Program Details of Addiction Recovery Phase 1
Purpose, Objectives, and Details of Our Faith Based Life Changing Program
The mission's major focus is on the spiritual life of the individual recovering from addiction because the abuse of alcohol or drugs is merely a symptom of deeper hurts, habits, and hang-ups that need to be dealt with. Experience has shown that spiritual regeneration, or renewal, followed by a period of spiritual growth, is the pathway to recovery from a life of disappointments and failures.
We accomplish this through:
Bibilcally Motivated Counseling
Prayer and Meditation
During the course of our program, the client will daily be exposed to the many layers of the Gospel and will learn to apply the power of scripture to their lives. We help instill healthy living habits by implementing a regiment of activities associated with sober Christian living, cleanliness, personal hygiene, good eating habits, exercising, and the social and biblical responsibility of work. The resulting spiritual growth will help them cope with the proactive demands of responsible living.
Program men work each day at the mission, thrift stores, warehouse, or on special assignments. They learn to become valuable members of a team and assets to the ministry, helping others but also contributing to the inherit costs of their stay.
A normal week at Providence Ministries includes breakfast, morning room cleanup, biblical studies, work therapy, lunch, church attendance, one-on-one counseling, group counseling, dinner, 12 step meetings, 12 step work, and free time for exercise, recreation, or relaxation. As client's mature in the program, they are rewarded with more freedom and responsibility.
Available and accessible staff include licensed addiction counselors and pastors, as well as motivational men of Godwho are always being invited to share their messages of hope with program participants.
Lastly, while we prefer that those entering the program be able to test clean, it is not a requirement. That said, those requiring medical or high risk detoxification, as is sometimes the case with those coming off of benzodiazepine or alcohol, must complete that process prior to entering our program. This is due to the simple fact that we are not a medical facility and cannot perform the procedures needed to guarantee a safe detoxification process in these cases.
